Science

Our first unit in Science this year was 'Animals including humans'. We learnt all about how we change as we grow and we had to try and remember back to when we were much younger to see how we have grown and changed. We have also looked at animals and how they grow and change as they grow up. We found out that some animals have different names when they are babies and that they look very different when they are fully grown! As part of our Science work we investigated how we change and we answered the question 'What is the most common handspan size in Year 2.'

As part of our Science work and Healthy Schools week at the start of term we did lots of learning about healthy eating and a balanced diet. We have learnt what foods are good for us and what foods we need to eat less of, to help us keep as healthy as possible.

We have learnt about natural and man made materials and can identify and describe materials in diffeent ways. We completed an investigation where we had to find out which material would make the best coat for our class teddy. We tested different materials to try and find the most waterproof. We found that plastic would make the best material for Teds coat.
