Alex Ryder Spy Academy - June 2016
Backpacks at the ready and raring to go, Year 6 set off to YHA Langdale in the Lake District to enjoy three days of Spy Academy training. Despite torrential rain for two of the three days the children had an absolute ball.
On the first day our 'Trainee Spies' undertook a series of challenges that helped to improve their spy skills, including, stealthily moving across mine fields; carefully moving radioactive substances to a safe environment and honing their skills of non-detection.
Day two saw them take on raging rivers as they went ghyll scrambling; ascend mountainous landscapes; investigate tenebrous caves and make their escape by abseiling sheer rock faces. Later that evening they honed their code cracking skills by solving a series of messages that enabled them to save the 'captives' and attain their reward.
On the final day our super spies developed their raft building skills by working in teams to build and then try out their rafts. Could they and their rafts withstand an attack from the 'Terrible Teacher Trio' a.k.a Lemon Orang-utan , Khaki Wolf and Amber Bear?
