Mrs Lyons and Mrs Murphy-Yen
All the children looked wonderful dressed up as book characters! Thank you to all the parents and carers who were able to come and read books with the children. The children had a great time and hopefully you did too!
We have been practicing painting techniques and making colours lighter and darker to paint fantastic winter pictures. Well done everyone!
We visited Chester zoo and had a brilliant time! We very lucky with the weather- it didn't rain at all and we saw lots of animals, although some decide to hide! A great day was had by all even though we were all a bit tired!
Well done to all those children who did some homework challenges. As you can see we had some particularly impressive robots! Fantastic!
We had lots of fun at our Christmas party and we even had a special visitor!
Alan from the CLC came to help Year 1 make animation with shapes. The children worked in pairs and made their own shape animation videos on I Pads. The children were very enthusiastic and they had a great day with lots of learning!
All the children looked great in their Pudsey and Spotty clothes! We started the day with the Big Morning Move (thank you Miss Gilchrist!) and later watched the duck race which Abigail won! The school raised a magnificent £345 which is incredible! Thank you everyone!!!
This week we have been designing and making levers and sliders. We started by trying out different methods of attaching and joining different materials. We used split pins, treasury tags, masking tape, Sellotape and glue to see which worked best.
We had a fantastic visit from Andy Tooze who read us some of us his amazing poems. We then had a go at writing our own poems about animals and the results were brilliant! Some children were then picked to read their poems out to others. An amazing and fun day!
As part of Power of Reading we have been exploring the book The Robot and the Bluebird by David Lucas.
The children have really enjoyed the book and have been drawing their own robots on our very popular doodle wall!
Our special author this term is Julia Donaldson.
