Important notice - Face coverings

Dear Parents/Carers,

You will have heard that there has been a significant increase in COVID-19 cases reported within Knowsley, you may well have seen coverage of this in the local media. It is therefore necessary for us to consider further steps to keep us all safe and well at school.

At present Knowsley has been identified as an “area of concern” for Government, which means that our testing data is being rigorously reviewed by the Government and Public Health England, along with the actions we are taking to address the spread of the virus here in Knowsley. Analysis of our local data tells us that there is a high prevalence of the virus in females, particularly those aged under 35 years.

As you are aware some schools in  Knowsley and Liverpool have had to send class bubbles home to self-isolate. As part of the council’s action plan to address the current situation, we have been asked to introduce further precautionary measures will be introduced in all schools. It is likely that as the situation develops I will write to you again with additional measures we may need to consider, however at present I request that with immediate effect from Wednesday 16th September we are asking:

  • All adults to wear a face covering when visiting or entering the school premises
  • Only one adult to enter the premises for drop off and pick up
  • That you arrive and leave promptly when dropping off/ collecting your child – please do not congregate as we know that the virus is easily transmitted from person to person

We will also be asking that staff wear face coverings when they come out onto the playground.

Hopefully, these extra measures will help reduce the virus spreading in our school community and prevent year group bubbles being sent home. I will write to you again should we be asked to introduce any further measures.

Yours sincerely,

Miss J A Withey
