In our English lessons, we focus on a variety of text types and create different pieces of writing, such as newspaper articles, narratives, instructions and poems.
We complete written comprehension every week and these are based on fiction, non-fiction and poetry to ensure that the children are seeing and interacting with all different types of text. We also take part in guided reading three times a week, again, based on a variety of texts, videos and clips from programmes such as Frozen Planet. We love our guided reading sessions as we can all join in and we aren't limited to just writing our ideas down!
In year 3, we recap SPaG learned in year 2 and expand on this, ensuring that we are secure in all SPaG learned so far and learning new SPaG along the way!
Miss Hughes or Miss Hunter will also read to us every day. We have recently read Journey to the Frozen North by Catherine Johnson, which was all about the first black man to make the long and difficult journey to the North Pole!
