Christmas stars

Dear parent(s)/carer)s),

The Kirkby Collaborative of Schools are working together to create Kirkby Christmas Stars. Following the success of the activity we held last year we will be doing the same this year.

This week, to mark the start of the festive period, every child in each of our schools will create a Christmas star to hang in a front window of your home, to provide a message to the community. The star symbolises a Kirkby community togetherness and unity at Christmas, a way of showing you are thinking about others – and particularly as we face the challenges of our second pandemic Christmas.

You will also soon be able to see a Kirkby Collaborative display of stars, representing all 14 schools, in the windows of the old Pound Bakery site on St Chad’s Parade.

Of course, you don’t need to stop at one star – you and your children could create more stars to put in the front window of your home, or those of neighbours this Christmas.

We can all bring the Kirkby community together this Christmas, through a display of stars in our schools, homes and in the town centre.

Our thanks to the Tower Hill and Shevington Together group for providing the inspiration.
