  • Christmas stars

Tue 30 Nov 2021 Mr Youngman

    Dear parent(s)/carer)s),

The Kirkby Collaborative of Schools are working together to create Kirkby Christmas Stars. Following the success of the activity we held last year we will be doing the same this year.

This week, to mark the start of the festive period, every child in each of our schools will create a Christmas star to hang in a front window of your home, to provide a message to the community. The star symbolises a Kirkby community togetherness and unity at Christmas, a way of showing you are thinking about others – and particularly as we face the challenges of our second pandemic Christmas.

You will also soon be able to see a Kirkby Collaborative display of stars, representing all 14 schools, in the windows of the old Pound Bakery site on St Chad’s Parade.

Of course, you don’t need to stop at one star – you and your children could create more stars to put in the front window of your home, or those of neighbours this Christmas.

We can all bring the Kirkby community together this Christmas, through a display of stars in our schools, homes and in the town centre.

Our thanks to the Tower Hill and Shevington Together group for providing the inspiration.

  • Parent hub meeting

Thu 11 Nov 2021 Mr Youngman

    Dear Parents and Carers,

We are delighted to have secured some funding to create a Parent Hub in school.

We hope that this hub will provide parents with a place to meet, access training and offer a range of free services to support parents and carers.

However, it is important that we hear your views on the kind of training and services that you would like from your parent hub.

We would like to invite parents, carers and grandparents to a coffee morning on Wednesday 17th November at 8.50 am (approximately 1 hour) in the School Hall.

For all who attend there will be a free prize draw and Bingo!!

To ensure that we can hold the meeting safely, with the necessary Covid restrictions in place, we need to know how many will attend. Therefore, please complete the slip below and return it to school by Tuesday 16th November.

If you are unable to attend but would like to share your views, please email the school or speak to a member of staff at the start or end of the day.

I look forward to hearing your suggestions and working in partnership on this exciting project.

    Yours sincerely,

    Miss J A Withey

  • OFSTED inspection

Tue 02 Nov 2021 Mr Youngman

    Dear parent or carer

Inspection of Eastcroft Park School by Ofsted

We have just told your child's school that we will inspect it on 03 November 2021. The lead inspector will be Adam Sproston, HMI. We are writing to you because we would like to know what you think about the school. Please take a few minutes to read the leaflet that came with this letter. It explains why we inspect schools and what happens during an inspection.

Your views about the school are important to us

If you are a registered parent or carer of a pupil at the school (including pupils on sick leave or who are temporarily excluded), you can tell us your views about the school by completing Ofsted's online survey, Ofsted Parent View, at: www.parentview.ofsted.gov.uk

Ofsted Parent View asks for your opinion on some aspects of your child's school, including the progress made by your child, the quality of teaching, how the school deals with bullying and poor behaviour. It also provides a free text box for you to make additional comments, if you wish. The inspectors will use the online survey responses when inspecting your child's school.

Written comments can also be sent to the school in a sealed envelope, marked confidential and addressed to the inspection team.

To register your views, you will need to provide your email address, which will be held securely.

It will not be used for any purpose other than providing access to the online survey. Neither schools nor Ofsted will have access to any email addresses.

Please complete the online survey by 11am on 03 November 2021 as this will give the inspection team more time to consider your views. However, we will consider all online responses that are completed during the inspection, although the free text box facility will not be available after noon on 04 November 2021.

    Speaking to an inspector

If you are unable to complete the online survey, it may be possible to speak to an inspector during the inspection, for instance at the start of the school day, or to pass on messages to the inspectors if you are unable to speak to them in person. Inspection administrators will be happy to make the necessary arrangements. If concerns are raised about child protection, we may have to pass the information we receive to social services or the police. You can contact the administrators on . Inspectors will be pleased to receive your comments, but cannot deal with complaints about individual pupils or settle disputes between you and the school.

    Privacy notice

During the inspection, the inspectors will collect information about children at the school by talking to them, looking at school documents, responses to the pupil survey where appropriate, and observing the everyday life at the school. In most cases, we do not record names. However, some of the information may make it possible to identify a particular child. Ofsted uses this information to prepare its report and for the purposes set out in its privacy policy. Ofsted will not publish any information that identifies a child in the report.

More information is available in Ofsted's privacy notice:

    www.gov.uk/government/publications/ofsted-privacy-notices/schools-ofsted-privacy-notice#parent-school

  • Parent governor election

Fri 08 Oct 2021 Mr Youngman

    Dear Parent/Carer,

    PARENT GOVERNOR ELECTION

I am writing to you to invite you to stand for election as a parent governor or nominate another parent to do so. In our school we have provision for 2 parent governors and there is currently 1 vacancy.

Nominations can only be accepted from parents or carers who have children registered at the school on the day that nominations close.

The GB, with the headteacher, has overall responsibility for the running of the school. The role of a school governor is to contribute to the work of the Governing Board (GB)in ensuring high standards of achievement for all children and young people in the school by:

    • Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction.
    • Holding the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school, its pupils, and the performance management of staff; and
    • Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.

The role of governor can be demanding but very rewarding.  Parent governors serve a 4 year term of office and under usual circumstances, can expect to spend between 10 and 20 days a year on governance duties.  These include:

    • attending meetings of the GB, usually outside of school hours and contributing to GB business.
    • reading reports and papers and keeping up to date on the progress that the school is making; and
    • visiting the school from time to time during the school day.

You will be expected to, undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, sign a governors’ Code of Conduct and have:

    • a strong commitment to the role and improving outcomes for children
    • the inquisitiveness to question and analyse.
    • the willingness to learn.
    • good inter-personal skills.
    • appropriate levels of literacy in English (unless a GB is prepared to make special arrangements); and
    • sufficient numeracy skills to understand basic data.

Training is available for all governors and the GB has an expectation that those new to school governance attend the free induction training.

The enclosed sheet summarises the circumstances under which someone cannot serve as a governor. In addition, parents/carers who have paid employment in the school for 500 or more hours in any consecutive 12-month period or who are elected members of the Local Authority are not eligible to stand in these elections.

If you would like to stand for election, please complete the enclosed nomination form  (https://bit.ly/3AsoAij) and return it to the school no later than Friday 15th October 2021 2pm. You may also include a personal statement to support your nomination.  There is no limit on the length of this statement, however, we encourage candidates to be succinct when setting out the skills, experience and attributes that they can bring to the GB to support their nomination. Self-nominations will be accepted, but if you are nominating another parent, please seek their prior consent.

If there are more nominations than vacancies the election will be by secret ballot on 18th October 2021. If a ballot is necessary, voting papers will be sent to all parents together with details of the ballot procedure.

To find out more about our school’s governing body (i.e., frequency of meetings etc) and the GB’s code of conduct please contact Mr Stuart Clutton, Clerk to Governors at eastcroft.de@knowsley.gov.uk.

    Yours faithfully,

    Mrs J Lynskey

    Returning Officer

  • Community recycling dates 2021-22

Tue 07 Sep 2021 Mr Youngman

Details of the community recycling dates for surplus uniforms are attached.

A community recycling programme aims to encourage the people of Kirkby to recycle and donate old school uniform items rather than putting them in the bin. At Eastcroft Park School we have a lot of surplus items of uniform that we wish to recycle. The items consist of school jumpers/cardigans, polo t-shirts, shirts, skirts, trousers, and summer dresses. The items are all different sizes.

We will put all the items onto a table outside the junior hall on the dates shown on the calendar in red 2021-2022 at 2.30pm for parents/carers to collect and reuse. Therefore, if you have any uniform items that can be reused, please pass into school for recycling.

If you have any queries please ring the school office.
